| Why is it in all the racial discussions we hear about in the media from African American figureheads they never mention the well known fact that it was very common for Africans to sell other Africans to the slave traders? |

It's also a well known fact that Africans STILL sell other Africans to slave traders today. But, the media and world governments conveniently choose to ignore this. Heard of Boko Haram? Very downplayed aren't they. Wonder why.............? |

Another stupid question. Almost as stupid as the why do blacks as for reparations thread. Are you even looking for a real answer OP? Because if you were, you'd direct your question to the right person instead of looking for cheers from the crowd. ![]() So, what is your real answer? |
| Either way, that stuff is in the past. We need to move forward. People who constantly bring up past wrongs aren't helping. Another thing is the self segregation by ethnic group. If you are a citizen, you are an American, not a Black, Japanese, Irish, Hispanic, Martian American. |

Why does that even matter? Does it make American slave traders seem more noble? Like, gee, they wouldn't of sold slaves at all if it weren't for those nasty African slave traders. I never intended this thread to have a racist tone. On that note I doubt 200 years ago there was a white person in existence that could have ran down Anyone in Africa. |

That would make some black people as responsible as some white people in the African Slave Trade. |

Posted this on here, before, but one of the most "memorable" (in a bad way) EO sessions I ever rode herd on in the Army featured two actual Nigerians. Nigerians who told our American-born African-Americans that the main reason their ancestors got sold to the white man was that they were sick, lame, and lazy slaves who the Nigerians wanted to get rid of...
They were from two different tribes, and both were perfectly serious about it. "Everyone knows this in Nigeria... We only sold the slave traders the trouble-makers, the drunks, the thieves, and the lazy...". The whole experience was just bizarre. The guy running the whole deal, who was kind of a "Back to Africa" African separatist, had called on the one Nigerian who was about to get out, and I presume he did that because everyone could see that the Nigerian was just seething about what was being discussed. They all assumed it was because of the victimization of the black man, but what they got was a full-force blast of inter-African frustration and damn near hatred. Our Nigerian just let everyone have it, about ignored opportunities, laziness, criminal behavior, and capped the whole thing off with that "Do you know why we sold your ancestors to the white man? It was because they were bad slaves...". Oh, yeah... That was a treat to be around. I sorta thought I was going to be the victim of a reverse race-riot, because I was going to have to try to get that guy out of the building. It didn't help when the other Nigerian was put to the question by the guy running things, and he said "Yes, my people say the same things... Only bad slaves, troublemakers and thieves got sold...". That day is right up there in the "Top ten most bizarre circumstances encountered on active duty" for me. |

Because some people will do anything to help them whine for free shit, special treatment, political power, etc. This is a huge difference I see between the left and typical conservatives; conservatives don't seem to understand that a lot of their opponents simply don't give a flying fuck about factual accuracy. The truth of a statement - both in terms of commission and omission - is irrelevant to them. They just. don't. care. At all. Seriously, we get several threads a day starting with "Why do..... " Why? Because some people are weaselly fucks. They will always be weaselly fucks. |

According to the United States Census of 1860, 1.4% of White Americans owned one or more slaves. The vast majority (95%) of African slaves were shipped to Brazil & the Caribbean Islands to work the rubber/sugar plantations and mining.
Facts are racist. ETA: Owned |

Get this. I spent some time in East Africa. I went to a slave trading museum.
It didn't show the Arab slave trade routes at all. It didn't even mention that the Muslim/Arabs had been taking slaves from East Africa for hundreds of years. They also had a huge influence on the west coast slave trade. It only showed the American slave trade from the west coast. How messed up is that?

A pseudo-industry, including government, private organizations, educators, bureaucrats, public speakers, and various professionals who depend on keeping the topic hot. Don't discount the power of money. |
