i like the kowa's. but the models i've used (borrowed) at the range cost more like 8 bones.

i use an inexpensive burris "landmark" scope with pretty good results.

I use the Nikon Sky and Earth 20-60x80 scope.  Note it has an 80mm objective, which really helps.  Objective diameter is generally more important than magnification.  The Nikon outfit can be found for under $500.  I highly recommend it.

I have a Kowa, but I was impressed with the Nikon also.

Thanks for the input, the Nikon seems the best for the buck.
