So we want to get a tablet computer to 1) have around for home use, and 2) for the wife to use for college stuff. We don't want one of the big ones that has a removable keyboard...to big. But it needs to be able to run some Microsoft office stuff and do pdf files.
Anybody have good recommendations? Sorry...no wife pics. She is a team member, values OPSEC, and is a good shot

My wife just picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 tonight and it is NICE! I have the original Nexus 7 and like it as well.
OfficeSuite Pro 7 is the best app I have found for MS Office file editing. If you want true MS Office you are stuck with the Surface tablets. |

I LOVE our new Surface Pro 2. We were honest with ourselves when buying it, however. It is very expensive for a tablet and very expensive for a laptop of comparable power, but it is awesome at both jobs. The Wacom stylus is sweet, handwriting recognition is top notch, and the screen is sharp and responsive. Windows 8.1 actually makes sense on this device. Boot times are awesome, and battery life is okay considering the power. We have the 256gb model that gets you the bump up to 8gb RAM. It has a real USB 3.0 and mini display port. The Type keyboard is great for real typing. My wife can actually work on it, as opposed to an android or iPad which are more for playing.
There are better deals, but I'm very happy with the purchase. |

I personally have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and it has been one of the best investments I have EVER made/. (Second to only my wife and firearms  ) I paid only $150 for the tablet at Wally World and another $60 for the Otterbox. I know that I can view office documents, but I am unsure of whether you can edit them. Good luck!
