Your serial number is very close to the one I got in 1989. Mine had a barrel date of 5-42 and was a very accurate. It had the lettering filled in white and had been bedded. The wood was well used but the metal was in good shape. It is the one between the 03A3 and the bottom AR.

You just reminded me that I need to go to the CMP and pick one of those up. I have not had a M1 in several years, but still have several hundred rounds of ammo in the clips sitting around. Seems a shame to have all of that ammo and nothing to shoot it in. Thanks for the reminder.

May of '65 rebuild. The triangle stamp on the birch pistol grip bottom and of course the electric pencil on the receiver lug are the clues of course. My LEAD rebuild has a nice silvery parkerization, mine's a July, '44 SA. |
