But I remember we had a thread about the train vs tornado video last year here, and it was pretty impressive. Maybe somebody can find it on youtube and post the link. Good stuff, worth watching again. |

I saw this video tha other two times it was posted here. Even so, I can't help but watch it again. Seeing that tank car coming at them had to give the train crew a serious puckering back there!
On a side note, this video could be called "A video about the Democratic Party"

I had a gut feeling it was going to be bad, but HOLY SHIT! They were lucky what ever was in that tanker wasn't flammable or toxic

| for a moment it looked like the train was slowing down then when it got into the tornados path, you could see the trees blowing, but it looked like the train went hyperspeed, then when the first car fell over you could see everything and it just was really slowing down lol. But hell! I would have ducked and held on to something as hard as possible! and the noise must have been deafening! I've been next to a train that pushed empty cars then braked to let the cars roll down to latch with other cars. The sound boomed each time the cars collided into eachother, kept booming for long time about 20 cars! |

Those engines weigh 250+ tons for the new ones, going 60+ MPH, it will take a hell of a lateral wind to move one of those things before it's out of the effect area. The rest of the train will derail pretty easily, like a tie placed across the tracks just so. |

A tornado can have an incredibly intense focus on what is actually just a few cubic feet in one place or another, with much less intensity just a few feet over. If you think of a tornado like the 'crack' at the end of a bullwhip –– a very focused 'event' rather than a 'thing' –– it is easier to picture in your mind what goes on. |
