Are union dues taken out of your pay before you get your pay check? If so we need someone to propose a law they can not be withheld then watch them shrivel up. |

You can opt not to have them deducted unless otherwise stipulated in the CBA, but you will still owe them. You're in KS which is a right to work state. It doesn't matter. You can work in a union shop and not be a member of the union at all. Rather than proposing a law about dues, the better way to go is to push "right to work" legislation. |

Indiana is trying to push to a right to work environment and the unions are going batshit crazy over it. I think it's pretty funny, but the propaganda they use on the radio is atrocious. |

In the unions I've been in the first form you fill out at the new job human resources section is a form authorizing a automatic deduction/ transfer for union dues from your pay check.....
You can request/apply to exempt $ for politics but they make it a very hard annual process and a PIA and they can arbitrarily deny for any reason. |

When we had the union. (as I understand this was put into place by the contract)
The employees were paid their weekly paycheck and then they had to pay their union dues. Well, the employees were not paying the union dues like they should have. The union rep. was getting pissed about it. We had to fire a couple dumb asses for tearin shit up and sleeping on the job. Finally, the union rep gave up and that was the end of it. |

Doesn't surprise me that IN is trying to do it. I lived there and the people there are far more free minded than most of the closed shop states. OK is the last state to overthrow the closed shop status, and they've done just fine. Of course the union is going crazy. RTW is like holy water to a vampire to them. Let me put it to you this way.... In the trades I don't care how good you think you are, you could be the biggest and baddest mechanic/journeyman out there, super hero fix everything status, yet you will still not earn as much hourly as a union journeyman, even with union dues paid out. So, as a union journeyman you are at the top of the food chain. You will be paid much better than any non union mechanic, even including dues. Your benefits will trump any non union shop also. |

I would like to see this implemented with taxes. Then people might realize how much of their check goes to the GOV as it stands most people only know what the take home is even though it breaks down what goes to the government automatically. |
