Tried to wade through some sites to see if vortex generators are of any real help on cars.
Not a physics major.
In simple English, are they useful for daily drivers or are they of more use for higher speed race and  track cars?

I never understood how adding restriction in the air intake would help.

There was a company years ago selling them claiming they helped improve mileage by about 3% . I know I have seen them on big rigs. Not sure whether they make a difference or just appease California law.
