This article is the epitome of media hyped gun seizures.
First, out of all the guns in that photo, they just randomly say that there was a, "Semi automatic handgun" like it is a big deal or something. Then the typical "assault weapon" line and my favorite, "multiple large capacity ammunition feeding devices"
I love the picture where they set the inert grenade on the table for effect. I hate the media so much. |

I love the picture where they set the inert grenade on the table for effect. I hate the media so much. You know, just saying but...it ain't the media that arranges the weapons for greatest shock value in those photos. Even more to the point, the description of said devices is usually a direct or semi-direct quote from the police report. As poorly as many of these stories are reported, one must give credit where credit is due. The police usually set up these reports of confiscations in such a way that they want the media to report it. I'm not taking sides, but that there's the god honest truth. They don't let a photographer mess with evidence. They lay it out, have an evidence photographer take the photo or hustle a newsie in for 10 min to take a photo of their set-up. Then they either read, or hand out a police report to reporters and the story gets written from that. Trust me, it's how it happens. |

Criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation? ![]() . Wtf?It is a fairly new law. Basically, unwanted physical contact like pushing, scratching, hitting, etc, is a violation. It becomes a misdeanor only if there is an injury, which means substantial pain or protracted impairment. They made this law to make choking a more serious charge than harassment, which is what they call the violation I mentioned above. Yeah, NY has some convoluted laws, other than the stupid gun laws. |

Quoted: I would agree about media reports regarding seized gun collections in general, but this is the kind of moron who makes normal gun aficionados look bad. Illegal shotguns and guns with serial numbers removed = stupidity of the kind that you and I don't need to be associated with. This article is the epitome of media hyped gun seizures. I figure assault should cover any unwanted physical contact of a non-sexual nature. I guess not.

The media just takes the blunt of my rant because they're the ones reporting. But it is a combination of the anti gun LEO's and the ignorant anti gun journalists. I think out of everything, setting that irrelevant inert grenade on the table is what bothered me the most. If the guy had kids who had airsoft guns, or even just toy guns, that looked real, would they place those on the table as well? Quoted:

This guy makes humans look bad because he lost his temper and made threats. The fact he owns weapons is a tertiary concern at best, unless your agenda is to play this up in the media as much as possible to justify your expansion of power and budget items.

Kinda makes me think I should lay my stuff out next weekend and take some photos. If the cops ever show up here, I can just hand 'em the files so I'll know they at least have decent lighting and composition. Ahahahah...indeed! That's what I'll do for this year's insurance photo. "Raid Art" LOL. |
| What did we learn today boys and girls? If you are going to have illegal shit or stuff of questionable legality either stay single or keep the sammich maker happy. This is the 87th story I have read where the guy had c-4, a grenade launcher, scud missiles, whatever, and everything was fine, no one had a clue, until he got into a domestic squabble...... |
"Later, police obtained a search warrant for the home and seized dozens of weapons including a machine gun, a 20-gauge sawed-off shotgun, an assault weapon and revolver that had their serial numbers removed. Police also found several large capacity ammunition feeding devices and magazines."

I see he went for quantity over quality. That Sten and chopped shotgun will sink him.... assuming the Sten is full auto and the barrel of the shotgun is too short. You can see the shotgun in pic #4. The barrel is maybe two inches longer than the fore end and it has no buttstock. And of course, he had crossbows. I swear, every person that ever bought one of those things from me was a complete creep. No exceptions. I don't know why that is. ETA - the Sten is an SBR, too. |
. Wtf?
