Will anyone boycott Colt when they fail to come through for us as some of the other manufacturers have.

This shit has got to end.  If colt refuses to sell to civilians then I will support a boycott. Otherwise I will assume they are standing up for my 2nd Amendment right to keep and bare arms.

It's a great idea! As much as I love my colts, I would ban them I f they don't stand up for our fight against our second amendment being taken away.. , great idea!

Can I still buy used ones?

I agree, but shit I love me some Colt 1911.

In my experience, Colt has never given two fucks about civilian customers.  They are happy to make money off us right now, but they'd be just as happy to throw us under the bus in exchange for a big juicy federal contract.

I have no doubt Colt will happily sell rifles to CA, NY and other ban states' police departments and will laugh all the way to the bank.

Connecticut banned Colt rifles BY NAME! while still allowing all other type's of AR's! Colt still happily produces rifles in Hartford, CT.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but obviously the CT crap was what it took for many of them to final snap out of it and fight for their rights.

Since when has any major firearms manufacturer every been involved in defending the 2A? FN Herstal? Colt? Glock? HK? Beretta?

Why this expectation all of a sudden? Some states have had bans on AR15 style rifles since 1994. Why the outrage against gun makers now? Is this cumulative? Something in the water? The new emo generation at play?

Could I ask more rhetorical questions?

My LE6920 never talked back to me. Of course I did abuse it a little. Maybe that was why it kept quiet.

They won't. Which is why it is silly to beat the crap out of the smaller companies dumb enough to come out and say they will sell to ban states. The big guys just won't say anything. Support those that say they won't sell though.

Whether they intend to or not doesn't really matter does it.

I fucking love the common sense being shown in this thread.  Too many motherfuckers are trying to destroy smaller companies for no reason, but staying on mute about their own personal favorites.

So let me ask you this. If the SHTF and AmRev2 happened, would you rather have the Colt carbine in your hands, or the Olympic? Olympic arms spoke out for your 2A rights, Colt did not.
But which rifle would you want in your hands if your life depended on it. Serious question.

I don't know. If you could only bang Hillary Clinton or Rosie O'Donnel, which would you choose?

1988 or so, after the Stockton, CA schoolyard shooting, colt pulled Ar's off the market.
Then sold them again, minus bayonet lug, and included a .22lr conversion kit.
Cycle was repeated a few times.

You know as well as I do for all the rhetoric that Colt is a better made rifle than Olympic. I have an Oly, and it's a good rifle, but it just doesn't stand the scrutiny of materials and QA testing that Colt did on my LE6920.

All the bold statements in defense of 2A doesn't magically make the Oly  barrel 4150  steel instead of the 4140 that it is.

It does and that is the union that represents Colt employees.  I have no idea why though.  It seems like the Machinist Union would be more appropriate.

It's never going to happen with a company as large as Colt and the amount of contracts they have. They likely couldn't stop selling to some entities if they wanted to.

Colt didn't make the current crop of 1911s for the Marines. They have not made 1911s for the US Military since WWII.

I think it was Detonics or some such, but it sure wasn't Colt. But don't let that stop your Colt hate-fest.
