[ARCHIVED THREAD] - win 98 modem help!!!

the USR modem is showing up on Com 5. program that will use it only goes 1-4 any ideas how to switch it? No jumpers on card either.

Do you really need 4 other com ports ?? If not, try removing or disabling one of them.

Go into your BIOS and disable the Com1 port on your motherboard. You should then be able to get the modem to switch to Com1.
