so, im trying to get my M$ VX-7000 webcam to work with my desktop. running 7 x64, been running it since the RTM was available, webcam always worked fine. kinda important, as it lets my mommy know im still safe out here in the desert (lol)

the lifecam software says "connection error", manycam sees the device, but throws an error when i try to set it as the active device. uninstalled, updated, reinstalled drivers, tried a 'clean boot', multiple USB ports, no dice.

but i can plug it in to my laptop (vista 32, xp 32/64, 7 64) and the cam works on all 4 OSes there.

im not aware of any new software that would have affected it, and i have the same software on the laptop. i was having an issue with some video codecs, but that issue arose before it stopped working, and i doubt it'd affect the cam software (any codecs it'd need, id assume it'd install)

anybody got any ideas?

Have you tried running the lifecam software in Vista or XP compatibility mode?

yup. same 'initialization error' on both counts.
