I'm interested, as one of the only things I didn't like about the 229 was the small slide serrations. I liked the look of the old stock grips better though.

German P226 that I really like and is also my wife's favorite pistol. The reach to the DA trigger is right at the maximum for me. Very curious to hear about these. |

I like that they changed the slide on the P229. It's the more classic Sig look. I don't think I'll like the grip b/c the current grip is just right for my bigish hands. I'm not a fan of Sigs with rails either. I'll stick with my old Germans and pre-rail P229.

I carry a 229 and though it took me a long time to warm up to the 229 slide (at least appearance wise), I can say I now prefer it to the "classic" style. As for the grips, I actually like the E2 grip contour as it fit my hand very well; not that it's significantly different from the regular grips, but it was just a wee bit thinner and thus more comfortable.

I have larger hands so I won't be needing it. I love my 226 grips the way they are. Sig ergonomics rock.

my problem with the new p229e2 slide is that it doesnt seem like its are low profile for ccw, thats my opinion i dont like it for that, if they kept the classic p229 style i would love it. hope sig still will sell the p229r as an option for those who dont like the e2

The stepped slide made it look lower profile, but the specs on it are the same––1.5 inches wide x 5.4 high. Same deal with the P239. The SAS looks lower profile because of the stepped slide but it is the same as the classic P239. |

When will they be available? The one thing that concerns me is the different mag for the P229. I am wondeirng its compatibility with older gens.
