So lets say for some reason polymer pistols are no more. Of current production pistols in steel or alloy what would you buy? Would you stick with the same calibers or move to another?
Of what is currently in production I think I'd have to look at CZ, maybe Sig in 9mm. I might even reconsider the 1911's in .45 as I'm liking the new fastback carry models. But not as many metal guns to choose from anymore. |

CZ SP01 or P226 for full size
CZ P-01 alloy frame or P228/9 would be my choice for carry HK P7 another good choice |
|
The CZ 75 Compact/P-01/PCR are great guns.
I have a PCR and I love it. I would definitely look into those. And, of course, theres the full sized CZ 75 and SP-01. CZs are definitely some of my favorite handguns. |

CZ or Sig for me.
No need for me to change calibers either as I only shoot 9mm and 45 ACP and CZ or Sig covers both. 1911s are out because of their low capacity and high maintenance requirements. The 92 is simply too big for what it is, and the safety location is just not acceptable on a modern pistol. |

1911
Beretta 92G Sig P228 Browning Hi-Power CZ-75 My conceal carry would remain the 1911. But the Sig P228 is a good compact 9mm for conceal carry. I love my Beretta 92G for a duty gun. I think a SAO CZ would be great for competition shooting. Browning Hi-Power is a great gun also for a full size 9mm conceal carry. |

I'm currently carrying a 1911 soooo, I'll have a coke.
2nd place is my Beretta m9a1 compact. |

|
1911, as I already carry. This changes nothing.
High maintenance requirements? If you say so. |
|
Without buying something it would have to be 1911's for me.
If i were going to buy something it would "probably" be a CZ. |

|
A quality 1911, like I do now... though now it's 1911's in 9mm.

OP I picked up a cz75 SA and I cant stop looking at it. So nice, my first CZ. Its a gem honestly.

Beretta 92 Vertec
M9A3 CZ Sig 229 There's a lot of good choices |
|
I can't imagine a fantasy world without my CZ p07. Ditched a plethora of polymer weapons because its basically my companion.
Guess my CZ SP01 tactical with TLR1. |

A light compact pistol = CZ P01 Omega
Not worried about the weight compact pistol = CZ 75 Compact I own/carry both. Just got one of the CZ SP01 Compacts (steel framed P01 with ambidextrous safeties) but I think I'll just keep it in the box in the safe. So many aftermarket parts available to make them smoother/more accurate and those parts are easy to put it, too. If you don't feel confident working on your own then there are good places/people out there who can do it for you (CZ Custom and Cajun Gun Works - I just get my parts from them but they work on'em, too.) |

Highly polished CZ 75.
I have had stainless guns but never ultimate Mexican bright. |
|
CZ 75 variant. I have a Tanfoglio TZ75 and a SP01 Shadow. The Shadow is amazing, big and heavy but amazing.
I like J-frames for carry but a CZ P01 is on my list. |

1911 series
CZ75 series Beretta 92 series BHP/P-35 HK P-7 Coonan .357 auto prefered B model Walther P-38 series Smith third generation Sig 220 series Have at one time carried and used all above. Sure I've forgotten some. CD |

Sigs and CZs
More specifically, I'd add The P226 and P220 SAO legions to my P229 legion. I'd ice the cake with a P-01 and Shadow 2! |

I had really liked the hi-power and it was at the top of my all-steel gun list until I actually shot one. The back of the frame rubbed my thumb knuckle raw after shooting a box through it. It was an older Argentine model, maybe the newer ones have a more contoured upper grip area.
I want to like Sigs too, but being so used to Glocks, whenever I pick one up and look down the sights it feels like a tower, the slide sits so high in the hand, I shot a 226(?) and did ok with it, but didn't really do anything for me. As mentioned before, the 92 is just a big gun for what it is and I didn't shoot it that well as hard as I tried. I'm just not a fan of DA/SA at all. That being said, I have no experience with any CZ models and would like to try one out some day. Which model is the closest to the Hi-Power? I prefer SAO triggers also. |
|
Sig P22X series, Beretta 92, CZ75, 1911, BHP, Jericho 941... Etc.
I hate the idea of limiting myself in such a way, but I could begrudgingly make do. |
|
I'm already a Sig first guy, so I'd stick with them.
I've shot a few CZs and thought they were good. Also own an M9, though it gets little range time. Also own a few revolvers, so could always fall back on them, too! |

Sig M11-A1 or P229 in 9mm. All you need. Accuracy and reliability are superb.

View Quote I'm down to (2) S&W .38Special Snubs, (1) Colt .38Special Snub, (1) 1911 Springer "Railed" Commander, an assortment of CZ's, and exactly 1 plastic M&P40c Pistol... I have exactly what I want and need; every pistol has it's designated purpose. CZ and Springfield and Dan Wesson's are where I'm the most happy. YMMV... |
