I am of the opinion its best to stick with one type of carry gun so you get it mastered. I'm going against the grain here and will recommend a single stack auto for CCW: Walther PPS, Kahr, S&W Shield, etc. ... This...I carry a Walther PPS .40 in an IWB holster and I sometimes forget it's there. I have about 1000 rounds through it and it hasn't given me any problems. I like the Shield as well. It's almost exactly the same size as the PPS. I can understand that as you're in Texas and its as hot as hell down there. Weather does dictate to a degree how large of a pistol you can conceal. Pat Yeah, It can get down right miserable trying to carry around a huge slab of metal strapped to an even larger piece of leather while it's 100 degrees and 90% humidity. I live in SWFL some say it gets pretty hot here I have no problems packing a service pistol and a back up cargo shorts Tshirt IWB and pocket carry |

I use to carry a K frame and a Jframe for back up Then in the late 80`s I moved to a Colt 1911 and a Mustang 380 for back up Now Im w using Gen 1 P229 and a Jframe 642 They are close to the same action I also feel for BU the 642 has more advantages than the tiny 380s or 9mm pistols |

I break my own rule when I jog and carry a J frame because I don't trust autos that small. The Glock 26 is the smallest I trust and thats too big for running with. Pat |
