Yeah probably would change out those sights. Low profile is the way to go there.

dollars to donuts you could get a straight trade or come out a head for people who want higher sights.

I think you'd just use it with the cover in place.  Swap out the sights if you want low profile sights.

Wonder if they plan on not making a optics model? I don't need one.

The only downside is not many make sights for the CORE rear dovetail. I know Dawson does. I like a U notch rear, which I haven't found one for the CORE models yet. Though the factory sights aren't all that bad.

They don't use the same dovetail as other Smith sights? If so that is to bad, I have a set laying around that I would have used.

I'm hoping $619 is the "I want to be the first at my range to have one" price and it comes down closer to $500.  Maybe that's unrealistic on my part though.

Demand - and prices - will be plenty high when they first hit the shelves.  Once the newness/novelty factor wears off, prices will normalize.  But that may take a while.

Same as other M&Ps with factory optics cuts.
Not the same rear sight as non-optic M&Ps.

Front Dovetails are the same, CORE 1.0 and 2.0 are the same rears, the CORE rear is not the same as the non CORE pistols.

On the topic of sights:
FYI the MGW Sight Pusher is a no go for M&P front sights on slides that are extended. I had to buy a universal sight pusher for this purpose.

It's a packaging thing, don't want the optic sitting on the ejection port.

Pre-ordered one. Been currently carrying either a C2 DPO or a Nighthawk Custom 10mm. This M&P, while not as enticing, should marry together power and capacity quite well.

Best place to pre-order one and does anyone have any ideas when they will come out? Surprised they did not wait until shot show for the announcement but many seem to be announcing early.

I'm going a while after they hit the market.  At that time I figure I'll know if there are teething problems, and the supply should have overcome that initial rush demand that pistols are available below MSRP.

So does anybody know if any of our armed forces or police actually use the M&P series of guns?

Various police forces in the US have issued M&Ps for duty use.  There are trade in Mass state police M&P 45 2.0s at Guns.com right now.

For certain no one has issued the 10mm M&P that is just coming out now, nor do I think anyone has issued a 10mm since the FBI briefly adopted the old S&W DA/SA semi autos years back.
