I've heard from a few people with first-hand experience that this is a bad-assed round, but I don't really know much about it. I know Glock makes a 10mm, what other options are out there? Your thoughts on the round and platforms for it are welcome. Thanks!!! |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10mm The 10mm would be my hands-down favorite, no question... IF, and this is a big if... it wasn't just about the most expensive goddamn pistol ammo in the universe. $22 for a box of federal plinking shit is common. That being said, it's still pretty cool. http://www.doubletapammo.com That's where all the best ammo for it is available. The shit they put in stores is... well, shit. The Winchester Silvertips are alright, because they're closer to true 10mm power than they are .40s&w, unlike most other store-bought hollowpoints. There are a few 10mm platforms, but the G20/G29 are the best. The EA Witnesses are also okay, from what I heard, if you get a new spring for the full-power loads. The 10mm 1911s tend to have more problems than not. It's pretty brutal on guns... the Glock 20 is pretty much the standard to which other 10mms are compared, as it's... well, the best/longest lasting. |

What criteria determines a round's bad-assness? Personally, I think its overpriced, too hard to find, the Glock 20 is the only real option out there for a gun that wont get beat to death by it in short order, and its over-powered in its original loadings compared to other rounds when it comes to defensive use. But thats just my opinion, and worth exactly what you paid for it. |
300 rounds is barely past "test fired". Try 1,000................ |
| I love the 10mm round. I've had a 1006, 1086, 1066, Glock 29, Glock 20, S&W 610 4" and EAA Witness. The Glocks jammed alot and I never did get them working right. All the Smiths and EAA were totally reliable and great shooting guns. I've always wanted someone to bring out a 10mm rifle like the Keltec Sub 2000 size but I guess I'll just keep wishing. |
I remember reading about MP-10s in a Clancy book

But seriously, the 10mm sounds like it'd be a great carbine round. |
Sounds like hell, it was. FBI used MP5/10s when they went to the S&W 1076 sidearm, and Auto-Ordnance even made some 1927s ("Tommy Guns") in 10mm. One of the H&K cloners here in the states has an MP5/10 out right now. ETA: found the Vector clones from Atlantic. |

10mm a good cartrige imo, one of my favorites all around, except for the ammo prices and availability |
