Hey guns just wondering. How hard is it to find a old Colt 1911 army slide and put it on a new frame? How about putting it on a used Rock Island Armory frame? Are the parts compatiable? Will there be the need of major mods or just simple fitting?

As with any other 1911, the parts might be compatible. Depending on how much work you want to out into it, you might do better finding a used Springfield GI.

There is/was a RIA with a colt slide and various other parts on the EE.
I can't remember the price but take a look.
Might be easier...

Keep in mind the 1911 slides were not heat treated so there is a risk due to age and prior use of cracking or galling
