I'm considering putting a few 1911 frames in one of the safes.  Does anyone have any suggestions price vs. quality?  I'm thinking I'd like to build one now and have a few put away for a rainy day.  But I have no clue who offers the best bang for the buck.
Suggestions?

This will get you started hopefully.

Caspian link
Rock River Arms link
STI link
Essex link
Sarco Inc  link(not on website, advertised in Shotgun news, unknown quality)
Wilson Combat link
Les Baer link
Mccormick link
Nowlin link

Caspian seems to be the most common which people build custom guns on, RRA is suppose to be great, Hobbs had a thread about the Mccormick having some slight tolerance issues that took him a while to work with.  Nowlin's seem nice from what I've handled them, but don't know anyone who's actually built on one besides Nowlin.  And I've not built one up myself yet.  so FWIW

I have built a 1911 on an essex frame with a colt slide and love it.  The quality was good and the price is right.  I used the stainless slide by the way.

That is what I wanted to hear, I'm picking a stainless Essex frame on Tuesday.

Thought it was the Baer frame that Hobbs posted about.  As I remember, the gist was: good frame but needed a lot of cleanup.

Thanks guys at least now I've got something to go by.  I'm going to call my local FFL and get some prices.  I'm thinking about building at least one now and possibly putting two more frames away for a rainy day.
