I swapped some things I didn't need for the parts to put together a compact 1911 with a member. I have a couple of questions;
I got a full size alloy frame and a SS slide and barrel, already put an extended beaver tail and ambi safety, can I mount the slide on the full size frame without cutting the dust cover? Will the gun function properly in that configuration? It looks like it will work, I am just not sure.

SHORT Answer: No, the frames are different beyond just the dust cover.

What needs to be done to the frame then, to make it function?

The frame needs to be milled back (about 1/4 of an inch) where the recoil spring guide sits.
