| what makes some 1911 better then others? I just bought my first a dan wesson valor v-bob .its about the closest I'll come to a wilson. |

The quality of the parts- match grade barrel es standard makes a difference. When you get to the upper tiers of 1911s the biggest difference it the amount of hand-fitting involved. When the bushing, barrel slide and frame are hand fitted the accuracy is much better and the pistol functions more smoothly and is more reliable. There are other smaller parts, such as the barrel link, that make a difference when fitted correctly. A 1911 isn't a modular weapon. If the parts are not fitted right the pistol has problems- something called tolerance stacking. The better pistols have parts that have closer tolerances, with the hand-fitted pistols being the best of all. |
