Hi guys, I have a 1911 and the spent brass is hitting my forehead . I already try changing the regular ejector for an extended one and still doing the same.
What do you guys suggest that I can do ?Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA:ARC |

My Springfield GI .45 was hitting me in the forehead / face a lot at first.
I noticed that the extractor was loose and was "clocking" by about 15 degrees, so I installed an over sized EGW firing pin stop to tighten up the extractor. This fixed it and the extractor does not "clock" anymore. Brass no longer hits me and my group size was cut in half. Another benefit was the case mouth was no longer being dented as it was ejected from the gun. |

Does the spent brass ALWAYS hit your forehead? If not always, what percentage of the time? If some brass doesn't hit your forehead, where does it hit? How far away from you.
If it's always hitting your forehead, both before and after you changed the ejector, then your problem is very strange. Extractors "clocking" usually cause the spent brass to be sent in an odd pattern.... for example your first few shots may be perfect, four or five feet away from you at three to four o'clock.... then they progressively get much closer, or at a much different clock direction. Are there brass case marks on the outside of your slide around the rear of the ejection port? Another thing to ask yourself (before replacing anymore parts) is if it's not hitting your forehead every single time.... is how consistent is your grip and recoil control? |
