I'm thinking about starting a 1911 project, seems like the best way to go so I can do it on a paycheck to paycheck bases.
Anyone know where one could get a long slide? Preferably 7"? Tried google but can't turn up anything but whole pistols and random forum topics. Thanks Cy |

Not sure about 7" slides but Caspian sells 6" ones.
http://www.caspianarms.com/ ETA so does Les Baer http://www.lesbaer.com/ short of that I guess you'll have to find a AMT Hardballer or have someone weld you a 7" slide together. |

A seven inch slide means a 7 inch barrel. When I was making my longslide (6" bbl) and was looking for barrels, I never came across a 7 incher. Doesn't mean they don't exist because I have seen pictures of 7" longslides. I'm just saying it might be a bitch looking for one. Then there are the (recoil) springs you have to take into consideration. Mine uses a 5 inch recoil spring, with a shoulder on the FLGR plug. |
