Hey guys i have been shooting 1911's for quite a while and want a nice 2011 to shoot. I have narrowed down my choices. Brazo's Custom STI Edge .40S&W Dawson Precision STI Edge .40S&W Does anyone have expeience with either of these companys Semi-Custom STI Edge's? I really don't understand the diffrences between them and since they are both around 2100-2200 its leaves me with a hard decision. Please help me guys i am clueless in the realm of Semi-Custon 2011's |

For that much money I'd also look at Benny hill and Bedell. There was a Bedell Spitfire that just went up FS recently for $2500. Less than 3k through it and worth every penny. Once you go past the $2200 mark you might as well ante up a little more and get a full custom build. |

Brazos seems to offer three levels of STI: 1) Stock STI 2) Stock STI upgraded with their High Performance Package 3) Full up custom build from STI parts (Pro SC) Dawson seems to offer just two levels: 1) Stock STI 2) Stock STI upgraded with their Enhancement Package If they build ground-up customs I don't see it in their catalog. Others like Bedell and Benny Hill also offer ground-up customs. Then there is Strayer-Voigt, who do things a bit differently. They don't really make a standard gun, they have a Gunbuilder web application where you can specify every aspect of the gun you want, and they will build it. Kind of a factory custom deal. They are basically the same gun as the STI as far as design, but there are some subtle differences. Johnny Lim was building his line of Limcat guns but I don't know if he's still doing custom guns, just making parts, or what. |
