I am having FTF problems with my older 220. The round noses up to the feed ramp and gets stuck there. If I hit the back of the slide with my hand it will go into battery.

I have never replaced the recoil spring yet so I'm thinking it's time.

Where is a good place to get a replacement from? Any brands I should stay away from?

Thanks!

I see they carry a green or red factory replacement. I have a green in there now. What is the difference?

They also carry Wolf brand. Is that any better than the factory replacement parts?

Green is for the standard size P220.
Red is for the P220 Carry model, which is a P220 with a shorter barrel.

Sig or Wolff, both are very high quality, either will do.
I'd personally get the Sig because it is Sig.

Alright then, green it is!

Kind of sucks that there is $10 shipping on a spring, but I need the part.

Thanks for the help guys!

I bought an old stamped 220 back in 1994, with the Sig 7 rd zipperback mags.  I went years and years without malfunctions, and then starting having feeding problems like you are.  I took my mags apart, and they were full of crud. Cleaned them out and no problems. I reload with WW 231 powder, and it is known to be filthy.  Changing the recoil spring is also an excellent idea, although I went with a 17 lb spring, instead of the factory 20 (the original 220 recoil spring was 15 lbs.).  I felt better handling and recoil control with the Wolffe 17 lb. Just a suggestion.

I learned from my mistake, and occasionlly clean out all my mags.  I now have a 220 Carry, and the newer Sig mags have nylon followers, and I think they will go longer without cleaning than the old Sig mags with steel tube and steel followers.

I probably need to pop my mags open again and give them a good cleaning. The last 300 rounds or so have been lead round nose reloads. They are quite dirty....
