| I have a few the the 8rd mags that do not have the dimple at the rear of the feed lips. Are these inferior to the ones that do have them? Are thet safe for carry use? |

From what I gather, the dimple acts as a stress reliever to prevent the magazine tube from seperating and does double duty to improve cartridge feed geometry.
Any time a manufacturer makes an improvement on a piece part, there is usually a good reason for it so,,,,,, I would not use the magazines for defensive carry use and would upgrade to newer magazines for that purpose but I also don't get rid of my older magazines. I use them for range practice or keep them as future collectables. One should never throw away a usable magazine. |

I agree,
I wouldn't say that they are un safe, but I would get some new ones, especially if your going to put your life on the line with them. The old ones are probably fine, but I'd rather be safe, than sorry. Shop around. If you have a C&R license, you can get them pretty cheap at Midway USA. Cheap by comparison, still not very cheap, but I think it saved me about $12 bucks a mag. DBAR |
