I have recently added a 220/45 to replace my S&W 4506 that has been carried for years. It is still in the break-in/T&E stages before it takes its new spot on my duty belt. Looking for a good starting point to start testing loads to use as a carry round. I have used 185/200+P Cor-Bon's in the Smith. Looking for opinions on factory HP's to start testing through my pistol and would like to hear exsperience from you of where to start as to reliability, performance, and accuaracy. Thank you in advance. |

I use 230gr Remington Golden Sabers. Very accurate and reliable. |
| I've now shot Remington 185 and 230 Golden Sabers, Federal 230 Hydrashoks, Speer 230 Gold Dot, and Win 230 SXT though mine. It's been 100% on functioning through about 900 rounds, and it's accuracy is nothing short of phenominal. It does not seem to have a load it prefers accuracy wise. It is just plain accurate with everything. I'm not a Sig guy, but my beater, used P220 is top notch regardless of ammo. |
| 230 gr. Hydrashock worked well for me. I did a penetration test with wet phone books, the really thick ones. The round went completely through the first book, and stopped about 1/4" from the back of the second. Total penetration was about 10" and the bullet mushroomed completely. It was impressive. .40 S&W 180 gr. XTPs did the same thing. I see you like drop leg rigs too, I just ordered a Safariland 6004 today. MJD |
