is it possible to purchase a new slide , barrel and mag for my 228 so i can shoot .40

+1 the P228 is a dedicated 9mm although you may be able to jerry rig something it's not recommended

That's why Sig made the P229 with the thicker, heavier milled slide to handle the .40 & 357 Sig. The P228 couldn't handle it.

well i was thinking of a whole new slide on the 228 frame, but maybe ill just get a 229 then
