So I just picked up a .22 conversion kit for my dual 229R's (one in 9mm, one in .40). Plan on shooting it today and will let everyone know how it goes.
I installed it just fine and ran the slide 50 or 60 times on the .40 229 with no issues. However, when I went to install it on the 9mm frame the takedown lever wouldn't go back into the horizontal position and would just lock up. I tried for about 15 minutes to make it work and it wouldn't go. I called Sig and they sounded as perplexed as I but were very helpful. The guy sent me a shipping code and took my info and is having me mail my 9mm 229, along with the conversion kit, to Sig to see what is going on. I still plan on hitting the range with the .22 on the .40 frame this afternoon and will mail the 9mm out to them in the morning. Strange stuff. jlk |

Just got back from the range and the .22 conversion worked very well when installed on my .40 229R frame. Still wouldn't go with the 229R 9mm frame but oh well. I decided not to send the stuff to Sig to have it worked out. I'll just deal with only being able to mount it on the .40 frame.
Fired about 150 rounds of Remington Bulk brass washed (from wally world). More accurate than I expected. Slide doesn't lock back on the last shot. There were a couple of feed issues (failure to seat all the way forward) in the first mag or two, but they seemed to have straightened themselves out. JLK |

The Sig .22lr kits will not lock back on a empty mag...however, you can go here-

, bend a little and sometimes dont sit right on the lug and in turn binds up the takedown lever. If you work with it a little it will work.

Another possibility is it might be the locking insert of the 9mm frame. If you have an older 9mm, I believe the locking insert is designed slightly different than that of a newer 9mm. IIRC the newer models all share the .40/.357 locking insert. |
