Just got a non-railed 229 in 357SIG. I have 2 older West German Sigs, a 226 & a 220 and have no issues with their grips, but the 229 has a very pronounced bulge on the upper left side below the slide release that just ruins the grip for me (I use thumbs forward and this is very uncomfortable). It looks like all of the "newer" grips have this. The older West German Sigs are raised only very slightly in this area to cover the spring beneath. Can I use older P228 grips on this 229? If I can't resolve this issue it's gotta go. Thanks.

If the grip clears the trigger bar spring you should be ok. But its a risky move because if you crush that spring you will get one shot off at most and the gun will crap on you till you replace that spring.

I bought my 229 in 93 or so. It had the newer looking grips on it not the checkered. Back then the only guns that were checkered were the German made. There my be some slim after markets?
