I just scored big.  My father gave his Colt police positive in 32-20 WCF.  His Great Aunt gave it to him, he gave it to me.  My brother had fired it [20 years ago when were young and stupid] and dropped it, dameged the grip.  I would like to find some ammo for this beautiful pistol.

I've fired Black Hills, that I got, I believe, from Cabela's.  It was very accurate, but put out a lot of smoke, though the gun didn't seem real dirty afterwards.
Ultramax, Ten-X, Remington, and Winchester all load it.  They are all lead loads.  Remington, used to make a semi-jacketed flat point, but it's been discontinued for several years now.  If I remember correctly, the Winchester and Remington, are 100gr. and the BH and Ultramax are a bit heavier, at 115gr.
MidwayUSA, also generally has this in stock also.  Just don't use any of the older "hi-speed" stuff, that was made for rifles only.

Lead ammo produces a lot of smoke because the lube on the bullet is burning off.

Congratulations on your new handgun. The 32-20 (a/k/a 32 WCF) has made a comeback over the last few years due to the cowboy action shooting game. While it used to be Obsolete and Incredibly Obscure, it is now merely Obsolete and Obscure. Fortunately, it is still loaded by several companies. Sometimes you can even find it in gun shops. Sportsman Guide has some allegedly in stock. Georgia Arms also loads it. It is not cheap where ever you find it.

The 32-20 is technically a rifle round, which was also chambered in pistols. This would allow Cowboys to carry one type of ammunition for both the pistol and the rifle. When searching online, be sure to check under rifle rounds.

I have my Dad's old Winchester 92 in 32-20 (made sometime before 1898) and have a passion for this round. I later picked up a S&W 1905 Hand Ejector in 32-20 and a Colt Army Special in 32-20 as well. These guns are very pleasant to shoot. Ballistics should be similar to the 32 H&R magnum.

My dream gun is a Colt Single Action Army (first generation of course) in 32-20. No Bisley grips please.

I reload, and if you are going to shoot yours a lot, I would recommend you consider reloading as well. It is a bottle necked cartridge and must be lubed when resizing. In addition, the brass is thin and easily damaged if not careful. If you are not going to reload, send me all of your once-fired brass.

A long time ago, l there was a special "Hi-Speed" rifle load for the 32-20, which was designed for rifles only. If you ever run into an old box of ammo, read the box carefully to make sure that it is not the rifle load. I was told once that loading used a 80 grain jacketed bullet, but I have never seen a box of it. It would do bad things to your gun. Thompson Center Arms also makes a barrel for the Contender in 32-20. It will take very high pressure loads. This is yet another good reason to stay away from reloads (in case the reloads were loaded for the TC Contender).

Post a picture of your handgun.
