It is for a Charter Arms Bull Dog.
Wt 24 oz or so very light wt.
It will not take the pounding.
I have see the 200 gr hollow point.
I like a heaver bullet moving slower.

What you should be concerned about are the bullets moving forward out of their cases from recoil and locking that lightweight revolver up. It's my guess heavier bullets would be more apt to cause this than lighter weight ones.

There's not much of a choice for .44 Special self defense cartridges anymore.
Federal 200gr. lead hollowpoint semi-wadcutter (my first choice)
CCI/Speer 200gr. Gold Dot's (not Blazers!)
Hornady 180gr XTP - if it hits bone it may expand...
Winchester 200gr Silvertip
All major brands of 246gr. RNL (roundnose lead)

OR:

Handload some 245-250gr. Keith-style SWC slugs for your gun

I was hopeing to fine a commercial load. I have considered handloading as well.
The one thing I have not considered was locking up that little 44.
Heaver bullets produce less recoil. Light buttet moving faster makes more recoil.
Thanks!  I will look in to loading.
It is a shame there not more commercial loads, there are lot of 44 spl out there.
And you could use them in 44 mag as well.

Thanks again!!!

I have never witnessed the heavier bullets-lighter recoil.  Seems pretty much the other way around for me, even with the lighter bullets being driven quite a bit faster.

^^ What he said...

Generally speaking heavier bullets tend to recoil more due to the fact that they're in the barrel for a longer duration of time - it may be measured in nanoseconds but perceived recoil is usually more with heavier bullets.

My vote goes to the Federal 200gr. lead hollowpoint

I have always been told heavier less recoil.  So I'm taking this to the reloading page
to see what they say!

Thanks!
