I have a bunch of 45acp I need to sell or trade. I was wondering how much I should sell it for? It is brass cased with 230 grain lead bullets. I also have some that is copper coated lead. It is all ammo that has been reloaded once. How much should I ask for? I was thinking of trading it for a GSG5 or a .22lr conversion for my AR. Thanks for your help guys, MissionMTMan

They are my good friends reloads. He has been reloading for 15 years and knows his stuff. I have shot thousands of his rounds with no problem. I didn't think that would be a problem.

Being reloads you can probably expect to get 60% of the value of say WWB, maybe not even that much.

Most people here won't touch others reloads. Nobody should actually unless you know damn well they came from a reputable source. That's just my opinion of course.

If you absolutely have to sell it, as apposed to shoot it, I'd put it up for auction at Gunbroker.com. Don't bullshit the description, tell it like it is. I'm not sure how reloads would compare to market price, but market for new manufactured 45 ACP is still around .40 cents per round.

I'd start the auction at .25 cents a round and see where it goes. 45 ACP is still in hot demand and is hard to find most places(for a decent price). You should get a decent sell out of it, depending on how much you bought it for.

After everything you guys have said, I am just going to keep it. Thanks for all your help.

Yes, I think keeping it would be the best choice for you.

If you were a potential buyer, would it make any difference to you to hear that the guy has been handloading for 15 years? It sure wouldn't to me. For all they know, he's been blowing up guns for 15 years, too.

It is technically illegal to manufacture ammunition for sale without the correct FFL.

Wooah! I didn't know that! I am so glad I asked you guys before I sold any of this. With the way everything is, I think it would be stupid to sell the ammo now. I would have probably kicked myself in the future if I sold it. Thanks again guys.

It is a type 6 FFL.
There is also an excise tax on ammunition under the Pittman act.

As long as you load for yourself everything is fine.
You just cannot sell it.

The only other way to sale it is if the buyer had any thing to do with the manufactering or owns any components.  ie saved his brass and then paid the difference for the other components.
