Nope,  I don't carry or own one, but I just got me a 3953.  It is one nifty, trim package with a slick DAO trigger!!!

I can't wait to shoot it.  I need to find my camera and take a pic of it too!!!

BTW,  What were you using before?  I thought you said previously that the 5946 was a standard issue item at your "Company"???

I know it is not one of JMB's designs but how do you like it?

The company issue was a S&W Mdl 64 .38 spl. They've been being replaced with 4046TSWs however the State of Florida complicated things and we had to add the 5946TSW as Florida will only allow the 9mm. Being a large company it takes time to transition everone, branch by branch.

A 1911 it ain't but it's tacticaly superior to the .38

Have the older non-TSW 5946.  A tad heavy but has been 100 percent reliable.  Keep it clean and oiled and you will have no problems.

My duty weapon has been the non tactical version as well....had it for 9 years and 0 problems.  Its definitely a heavy pistol, but if you're carrying it on a gunbelt, its not too noticeable, and the weight is nice when you're shooting it because it eats up just about all of the recall.  Ok its definitely not a 1911, but you should definitely be happy with it.  Good luck!!

One of the most underated service pistols of all time. We have been using them for over a decade and all I can say is that we have never , ever had a problem with them. We shoot millions of rounds through them a year and they keep on working.

In fact we have some range guns that have over 500,000 rds !!

I've been carrying a 5906 and a 6904 for the past eight years.  Both have been 100% reliable and accurate.  I always ace Qual courses with them.  When folks ask me questions like what do you carry or what should I buy?  I always tell them S&W autos, but they go and buy other brands, keep 'em till the next Qual and trade 'em in for something else.

The S&W 59 series with a good hollow-point is hard to beat.  I can't figure why they're so under-rated.  The 2nd Gen almost won the military contract in the eighties.  These are much better than that series.

IMHO

Yeah... the wieght has always been the downfall of the SW's auto.  I love my 3-gen 4506 & 4005.  Their DAO auto has some of the best trigger on the market as far as DAO pistols.
