Thinking of getting my first MKII.  Don't want to get just anything and found this one on Ruger's website.

www.ruger-irearms.com/Firearms/FAProdView?model=188&return=Y

I like the size and want a SS model so this seems to fit me.  Laminated grips are cool as well (without the mondo thumb rest).

Does anyone have one or know heard of any opinions on it?  Local gunshop says not many people like it as it doesn't come with scope rings like the larger gov't. model but going for the same price.

If I didn't own at least one of every model Ruger .22 pistol, I at least fired one of each...except that one. (not braggin', I'm just old)
I don't think it will disappoint.
The mechanics are all the same, mostly just the barrel configuration differs.
That one seems like a very handy size besides.
Strange, they would price them the same unless they figure those laminated grips equal the value of the scope rings.
Plus, I think that may be a special model, a sweet looker at that.
Nice taste you have.

I have a 6-7/8ths barrel slabside on layaway that I'll be picking up Thursday; I almost wish I'd seen the 5-1/2 inch slabside sooner. IIRC, all MkIIs made in 2004 will be drilled and tapped for scope mounting, so putting optics on it shouldn't be a big deal.

Btw, here's a link to some good MKII information. www.1bad69.com/ruger/index.htm

My uncle has had the old school mkI (bought it in the early 60's, used, I think) since I can remember.  I have always loved and admired it but never shot it.

For Christmas I bought my father-in-law a ss mkII.  He bought crimson trace grips for it and I finally got to shoot it while sighting in the laser for him.  What fun it was shooting.  Now I need one his
Local gunshop doesn't have it but advise they'll order it for me for $390.
