For you Smith guys.  I pick this up and can't get the feel for it.
I've been trying to trade or sell a ANIB 642 (has lock) on the EE and do not seem to be getting alot of interest.  What would be a fair price for the 642, leather pocket holster, 2 HK speedloader, and Hogue Bantam grip (in package, stock grip currently installed)?
I'd like to move this thing but not sure about the price.
Thanks.

Street price for new J frames seems to be running around $450, maybe a bit more.  Gun market is pretty soft right now.  If someone offered $350 I'd probably take the money and run.  The accessories don't do much for the value.

A lot of guys will snivel about the lock.

Problem is S&W is offering a $50 rebate on certain J frames until the end of Dec.  They also have No Lock 642's.

IMHO, that's why a used 642 with lock is a hard sell right now.

If one digs around... new 642s can be had for around 350$ before the rebate... in the market to sell used?.... 350$ would be my goal currently.  I bought one As-NIB recently for well under 300$... figured my first 642 needed a little friend for those cold nights alone in the gun-safe when it's bigger brothers get to go out and play.

The local Cabela's has several like new with box used 642s for $330.....  The no lock 642-1s with $50 rebate are are killing the market.

Shoot it more It's a small revolver, so it's never going to fit like a full size anything. Great pocket gun for CCW. If the market is dead for selling a 642, I wouldn't dump it now unless I really needed the dough. Maybe wait till next year when rebate is over with and some people are getting some tax money to spend. Maybe grab some wood grips for it to see it that changes the way it feels for ya also.
