JUST BOUGHT A 642.  Seems to have a very heavy trigger pull.  Will it hurt to "dry fire" the gun to get used to the trigger pull?

No, have at it.  If you're at all concerned, buy some snap caps.

That trigger will get better after about 1K dry fires.  I opened mine up an blew out the action after breaking it in.  Seems a lot better.
