I just picked up a promag 6 rounder with the finger extension for 16 bucks. I'm not even going to consider carrying it for a spare mag, but just how good/bad are they?

If they are worth a damn at all I might go get a couple more for range use. If they are absolute shit then oh well, it was a cheap lesson to learn.

I don't buy ProMag just due to the headache...

I wouldn't use them in anything other than going to the range, either. But I tend to enjoy the range more when things are going smoothly. That is why I stocked up on Ruger magazines, with the pinky rest. The difference between their price and ProMags are worth the possible/likely hassle, to me.

I agree totally that it's just better to spend the extra few dollars on the ruger mags. This was just staring me in the face at academy so I said what the hell. I'm going to put some ruger mags on order at midway for carry use.

I guess when I get to the range I'll update this thread with an AAR of the promag.
