Although I have read good things about the CZ's, fun stores around here don't carry them.  However, Academy had a few in stock the other day and I got to handle the 75d compact.  I am already sold on the feel, but I had been eyebelling the 75bd on their website for a while.  Maybe I will eventually get both, but which would you get first.?

its not like CZ is going to stop making one or the other soon, so any one you get now will be find and the other will be waiting for you.

Why are you asking us?  It is all about what you want.  Both are good choices.

Since you asked, I would get the compact.

Ha. That is true.  Just wondering.  I have a Smith 5906, a 910, and a Beretta right now and have been thinking of another 9mm since the ammo is reasonable.  I have not been shooting .44 and .45 lately.  I have also been considering a Springfield 1911  in 9mm.  Too many choices.

Neither. I'd get a 75B, 75B SA, SP01, or 75 Compact.

I don't like decockers - I prefer Condition 1.

I'm in the same exact boat as the OP. I really like the de-cocker, personal preference.

I've found few stores in my area that ever have them in. I'm really thinking 75bd, but I have kind of small hands, I need to get my hands on one again and be sure. I'm wondering if the Compact might be a better fit, but I think I'd prefer to be stocking up on the standard 16 rd mags...

Oh, the decisions...

Well, a CZ 75 16rd mag will fit just fine in a Compact, it will just stick out a little bit.

Really? You're always so helpful PA452 I'm still learning here... You gave me some really helpful information which led me to buy my Kadet. Hence I fell in love with the cz75. Now I want one in 9 x19 and it's decision time...

My dealer got a compact in last week and liked it so much he kept it for himself but he did order one for me.  I really like the feel but will probably change the plastic grips for Hogue rubber.  Anyone know of a good video on disassembly of the CZ 75s?
Are all the decockers on the 75s stiff.  Will be the first all steel pistol I've owned.

What do you want to disassemble? The trigger mechanism is a big PITA, and best left to a pro IMO...even though I did work on mine. Standard field stripping is easy. There are witness marks on both the frame and slide. Push the slide back a bit until the line up, then knock the slide stop out and pull the slide forward and off the gun.

I'm not planning to disaasemble any thing right away but would like to know how and a well done video has always worked better for me than a book.   Thanks for the info on field striping.   Delivery of my compact 75 slipped from yesterday to Friday.  Several of us hang out at this gunstore and most (not me) know a lot about guns.  One is an armorer and I'm sure he can help if I ever need it.
