picking up a NIB early 80s 92S when I go home to PA on leave

my question is will a current production locking block fit it? I don't plan to shoot it a lot but I would like to shoot it occasionally. I know the newer locking blocks are better designed to avoid cracking.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Cheap insurance, right?

I'm going to out on a limb and say yes, because the F and FS models only had magazine button and safety changes. But I would still call Beretta and ask for a definitive answer.

Yes, it should fit fine.  You will need to use the newer plunger and pin that comes with the newer-style Factory locking-block.  That being said, I doubt you'll ever need to replace the one on it now but that's just my opinion, for what its worth.

I'd spend the $5.00 for a new Factory 13lb Beretta full-size recoil-spring first (Beretta part# C90292, Italian-made, chrome-plated for the INOX, works fine in any full-size 92/96).  Available from Brownell's, use "ED7" for free-shipping. Just my opinion, YMMV.  Good luck.

Should fit... I was able to swap one into my Taurus 92.  I did have to lightly grind the edges of the barrel relief cut.  Block couldn't hug the barrel tight enough for the lugs to clear the frame rails.
