I maybe going down the wrong road, but I have a pistol in mind for my better half...
An all steel CCO sized 1911 in 9mm I can't seem to find anything that fits that bill other than a Caspian 9mm Officer's frame and Commander slide. I'd have to build it myself, which isn't a big deal, but I'd prefer to have something up and running quicker.
The only other thing I've found that is in a similar price range is perhaps the Kimber Pro Carry II, but it's an alloy frame - I just seem to like the all-blue, steel set ups better. Any other ideas? |

I am waiting on Fusion Firearms to build me a 9mm CCO, but with a lightweight frame. They can do a steel one, too.
I am really looking forward to this pistol and think it will be a very pleasing combination of that Commander-length slide and Officer's Model frame. |

You must have missed the all steel or CCO requirement
Please dont lock me I didnt know they did a steel frame on the 40's. I guess the aluminum wouldnt take the abuse. . . . . . Still not a CCO |

I appreciate all the suggestions! Basically, I asked what she would like for a pistol, and she stated a blued CCO sized 9mm This particular pistol will not be used with carry in mind, so the full steel frame is ok. She can handle a Gov't 1911 well, just the .45 recoil wears on her quicker. But we want something that is a little more her size. The rub is - I keep finding aluminum frames with stainless slides...
The closest we have found is an Heirloom Precision CCO - At least the girl has good (expensive) taste! |

I want to hand checker it at 30 lpi ***Figured I'd show the closest looking we found (albeit a LW .45ACP): http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/weldor/12431552642.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/weldor/12431553012.jpg This is the vibe I am going for...nice and classic. ![]() |

So how available are officer length 9mm magazines? If it's not going to be a carry gun why the officer length frame instead of a standard? Hey - it's the gun she wants. I kind of like the idea of the smaller frame - perhaps not as practical, but something more unique. We have plenty of other options for a carry/defense pistol for her. I believe STI makes Officer's 9mm mags. I just don't know much of the reliability yet. |
