| Has anyone ever tried it. It looks fun. Does it work on tree rats and little birds, or does the rifling just scatter the pellets? At $15 a box, I thought that I would ask first. |
| Yes, the rifling does scatter the pellets very quickly. Good for very close range at best. For snakes you are better off with a 4-5 foot stick instead of the ratshot. Forget it at any longer range. I used the same style rounds as in the link below in my Ruger single action .357 at the ranch. It always took 2-3 shots at ranges of 2-3 yards to put down the water mocassins we were killing. I ended up using my Ruger Mark II with standard rounds most of the time. |
