Has anyone ever tried it.  It looks fun.  Does it work on tree rats and little birds, or does the rifling just scatter the pellets?  At $15 a box, I thought that I would ask first.

Yes, the rifling does scatter the pellets very quickly. Good for very close range at best. For snakes you are better off with a 4-5 foot stick instead of the ratshot. Forget it at any longer range. I used the same style rounds as in the link below in my Ruger single action .357 at the ranch. It always took 2-3 shots at ranges of 2-3 yards to put down the water mocassins we were killing. I ended up using my Ruger Mark II with standard rounds most of the time.

Did try some in my old pre B CZ75 and killed on large garden sipder with it.  Haven't used them on snakes around the house (prefer my Smith 29 with .44 shotshells) but keep shots within 6' or so and they did function my CZ.
