AMERIGLO Front Sight Question
So I'm shooting my Glock 19 (w/ Trijicon NS) the other day, and I'm finding my deteriorating eyes are having trouble picking up the front sight. I try out a friend's G19 equipped with Meprolights - suddenly the front sight is easy to see. Turns out, the white ring on my Trijicon front sight had rubbed away, but not on the rear sights, giving me headaches. By contrast, the white plastic ring on my friend's Meps were clear as day and quite bright.

So I'm thinking about changing out my sights - but I'd prefer to just change out the front post since my rear sights are in good condition. Plus, I don't have a rear sight pusher, but I can easily change out a front sight myself. I've found a vendor who just sells a Meprolight front sight post, but I'm not so sure about mixing a Mep front and Trij rear (seems like blending Coke and Pepsi).

I see that Ameriglo uses Trijicon inserts and has a nice, bright white ring around the tritium insert. Does anyone have any experience with the Ameriglo? What is the ring made out of? Is it a plastic insert like the meps, or is it painted on like the Trijicons?

Thanks!

I use Ameriglos and Meps.  I don't look for the white rings on either; however, the Ameriglos do have the same painted-on ring that other Trijicon tubes employ.  Brownell's sells Mep and Trijicon front-sights-only, and there's absolutely no problem with using a Mep front sight with a Trijicon rear.

It's also pretty simple to paint on a new white ring on that Trijicon sight, using White Out and a toothpick.
