| Today in my local toy store, I was considering trading a Browning .25 for a Ruger .22. In looking them over, I found that two of the stainless ones were AMT Lightening .22LR. One was $270 and other was $320. I liked the trigger guard shape and wondered if there internals were the same as Ruger. I have sent an email to Pac Lite so see if a Ruger barrel will fit them.......I have read that Clark did their triggers. So, should I run away from them into the arms of Ruger. I want to use a Red Dot sight and the AMT's have scope grooves already in place. Yes, I have heard some AMT pistols were not OK but what of the .22LRs.?? |

I have no personal knowledge but you can go here for some AMT history. AMT I have never read where AMT Lightning Pistols have any parts interchangeability with Ruger but they might have some (mags for one) seeing how Ruger sued AMT over the design. AMT Lightning Pistol Manual |
| I own two. Both are AMT tops with ruger bottoms. I have a 2x mounted on the 8" barrel and bought a red dot to mount on the 5". I'm having troubles with the red dot due to different mounting system. I bought a B square dove tail to weaver mount but it is too long. As far as problems with either, one is about 23 years old the other is 20 with a couple of hundred 500rnd bricks through both. The 5" barrel is a Mk II and is now started to fail to extract and I'm going to get it checked out. The other is a Mk I and is going strong. It seems that all the ruger parts are interchangable (I put a ruger bolt in the 8" when I bought it) no problems. |
