With all the negative ju ju about Colt flying around. I figure I will post something good that happened today.

I purchased a pre series 70 Colt Light Weight Commander a few days ago. It came with some junk adjustable sights from the 60's, so I was on the hunt for some good sights for carry. One of my options was stacking the front sight on. So I called Colt to inquire about the size I would need. I talked to a very helpful guy named Paul, he said he would ask and get back to me in the next day. He called me back today and told me it was a Commander narrow tenon, and he is sending me out one for free. Excellent service on a 43 year old gun. Big +1 for Colts customer service and Paul.

I wonder if the OP was using the 5" Goverment Model as a Colt time line.

Paul is the guy I dealt with @ Colt. I guess it's easy to send out a $2.00 part thats been in a bin for who knows how long. Try to get them to do the right thing when you have a problem with a currently manufactured pistol.

They fixed my Gold Cup Trophy for free and installed some parts for free.  Your expenrience was different.  Just like mine.  Neither one is the end all discussion concerning Colt's repair work.  I will keep posting about my positive experience and I'm sure you will keep posting about your negative experience.

Good to hear. Good experiences are perfectly valid to share about Colt as well (at least it rounds out the full picture).

It has been my experience that when the "issue" is able to be isolated by customer service alone, there is a pretty good chance at getting satisfaction. By and large, I have found Paul, Carol, and Cindy to be helpful and capable staff. The breakdown in my experience is when communication and procedure must take place within the different departments.
