| I have a P220 in 45 acp and a S&W M&P in 9mm, I am thinking of getting a Sig p226 in 9mm, I reload for my 223 and 9mm should I tradt in my 45 for the 9mm? |
| I was always a 1911 guy. I like to shoot weekly or so, and I noticed that 9mm was about half the cost of .45, whether reloaded or commercial, so I'm switching to almost exclusively 9mm. The only .45 I'm keeping is my Series 70 Gold Cup. I'll probably unload my Beretta 92's and just keep my Sigs. I like the Sigs better anyway. Never had a failure on a Sig, and my 228 holds 17 rounds with the X-Grip. |

Quoted: I've gone through a consolidation process recently, and while many will say never sell a gun, to consolidate down to one pistol caliber (especially one for which you reload) may be a good idea. I've never understood the need for the whole consolidation thing. I really like shooting handguns of different caliber. I enjoy the variety of it. I currently own pistols in 9x18, 9x19, .40S&W, .357SIG, .22LR, and 7.62x25 and am looking to get one in .45ACP this month. Next up will be to get some revolvers. MAX

MAX That's a lot of calibers/ammo to stock, IMO. I don't reload, though. I didn't get out of .45 entirely; I kept 2 out of something like 7. And they are my favorite shooters in that caliber. My goal was to get down to 9mm mainly, which I think I accomplished. It's hard for me sometimes to make gun buying/selling recommendations when the OP's financial and gun collection situation is unknown. "Get both" doesn't work for a lot of people and I just thought, based on the OP's post, that he would be happier getting to move to the P226 over the P220. |

I would never suggest getting more than your current financial situation will allow. Since I use .40S&W for defense, and shoot mostly that, it is all that I stock in quantity. Everything else is just a couple of boxes for fun at the range. I am just thinking that if you consolidate down to only one or two calibers that you end up losing out on some of the variety that makes shooting at the range fun (at least in my opinion). I feel the same way about the people who have ten handguns and it turns out that they are all the same BRAND/STYLE of gun (usually also all in the same caliber). Glock fans are usually the worst perpetrators of the latter. MAX

It always seems to be the Glock guys who do that. I'm sure that it's fine, it just seems so boring to me. It's just my opinion though for what that's worth. You're not included in that category because you seem to have a varied collection.
