I bought a novelty grip for my 1911 and found it to have a very smooth surface, inadequate for a proper grip (a big shocker, huh?).

Is there any product on the market that can add a textured surface that can hold up to constant grippage?  Maybe some sort of spray?

Options range from using a stippling punch to stipple the surface, to applying a coat of epoxy and sprinkling sand on it.

Well, one cheap and easy way would be to apply skateboard tape to part or all of the surface of the grips.  I've used it, I like it alot.  It works well.

Or, depending on what material the grips are made of, you could checker them with a checkering file.  Might as well just get checkered grips though, if you're gonna do that.
