I picked up some from a member on the EE awhile back still in the brown wrapper. I only used 1, and left the rest in the packaging. All worked fine. The guy sold a shit load of them back then, and everyone that I read about had good things to say. There was a thread going on back then. I'm sure its in the archives if you can search there. Supposedly the best. I read their press release when they were awarded their contract that stated they were going to go back to the original Beretta magazines and see what CMI did wrong when engineering theirs to avoid the problems CMI mags exhibit. All my M9 mags are Airtronic and they work 100%. |

All my M9 mags are Airtronic and they work 100%. Press releases aren't much to go by. CMI didn't engineer dick. They simply made the mags according to the milspec, as required by the contract. The problem was that the milspec was bogus. The milspec changed and later CMI mags were made to the new milspec. Airtronic is in the same boat. They're a contractor that make an item to the milspec. The contract is for producing mags, not developing new ones. By contract they have to produce it to the current milspec, so they somewhat bend the truth to make it seem like they're "reinventing" the M9 mag. They make the item EXACTLY as the government wants it, just like the current contractor for M16 mags, or the current contractor for M14 mags. Just like CMI made them to the then milspec before them. PHI was turned down on the basis of having no magazine building experience. They teamed with Triple-K to reduce their risk, but the govt looked at Triple-K's somewhat checkered record with their own aftermarket mags and passed on them. In the end Airtronic got the contract. They make an excellent product and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. The mags are USGI. Nothing special, but certainly not junk either. |
