Iv been reading up on getting a good 1911 and Im looking hard at getting a MC Operator If i can find one and for around $1000.
There is always the TRP but its about $400 more for the railed version. But Id still have to have most of the modifications made(except for the front strap checkering). I would change a few things on it. 1. front strap checkering (Will be adding grips from gungrips.com) 2. trigger guard undercut 3. Throated Barrel 5. Ambi mag release This would be an additional $440 from SACS not including round trip shipping and probably a long wait. Any other suggestions? ETA: Anyone else with a tank icon looking for one? Theres a 3rd MC Operator out there now but MIL/LEO only for the same price. |

Comparable would be the Kimber Warrior, but last time I looked at one in my LGS it had what looked like a plastic MSH. There's this Dan Wesson but it runs around $1800. It's just a sweet looking 1911, though I'd prefer a S&A magwell because it runs continuous to the butt (and I prefer 3 dot tritiums).

If you really want the trp operator get it. They're worth every penny. The mc operator is also nice. I recently bought one but have yet to shoot it. | Why, oh why did I look at this thread? Now I want a Sig Scorpion AND Tac Ops. That's about $2K any way you cut it. I gotta pick one and be done. Too much 'funny' stuff with the SA to suit me. Mainspring housing lock, proprietary firing pin size....I just have never been able to 'pull the trigger' on a SA, although the Custom Shop offerings sure look good. |

If you are leaning towards the Sigs and want more holster options, look for the Traditional Tac Ops model. It has a regular rounded slide instead of the Sig square profile. I like the look of the squared slides, but I decided I'd rather have more options on holsters. |
