I am considering a Springfield Operator purchase sometime in the near future.  My local gun shop has a Light Wieght Operator (both the fullsize and compact) in stock.  I've only owned steel framed 1911s so am a little uneasy about the aluminum frame.  Any issues I should be concerned with?  Do any of you have one with a high round count that can testify to the durability of the pistol?  I like the idea of a ramped/supported barrel.  Thanks!

I have an aluminum framed full size Wilson and love it.  Recoil is manageable and it carries more comfortably than my all steel cqb compact.

Many mango seasons ago I was trained by Chuck Taylor, a true 1911 believer.  He told me he felt that the stresses on the aluminum frame did not cause the type of impacts that would mangle aluminum.  I

In any event I put more rounds downrange through a bone stock Norinco and follow up with the aluminum frame.

I need a fullsize ccw gun here in lovely S. Fl so I am not worried about longevity but being able to tote a full size blaster in relative comfort.

I have a Full Size LW Operator... Around 5,000 rounds down range with it and no problems other than with the factory mags at the start (have only ran Tripp from then on out). I don't notice any wear.

On a side note, does anyone know if springfield woukd fix/replace the pistol if you simply wore it out? Lifetime Warranty...
