While at work, I took my CW40 to the range this afternoon on lunch break and shot a round of bullseye (30 rounds total) at 25 yards two hand unsupported.  I wanted to break the gun in and see what kind of accuracy the gun was capable of.  I had the factory put a set of night sights on my slide even though I never fired a round through the gun since I bought it a few months ago.

I was using some Federal American Eagle 180 grain flat points (issued practice ammo).  I placed the magazine into the gun which had the slide already locked back and depressed the slide release.  The slide did not close which made me worry about the bullet profile not working with the angle of the barrel ramp.  I locked the slide back again and tried to release the slide with the loaded magazine.  The slide went forward as I felt the bullet go up the feed ramp and into battery, the "Kachunk" feeling of the bullet going up the ramp and into the barrel.

I squeezed the trigger and the gun fired with no problem.  The recoil was a little more pronounced than my duty gun (.40 cal. SIG 226).  The round went into the black, so I knew the bullet went at least into the nine ring.  I continued to fire and almost every round went into the black.  I did have 3-4 rounds go into the eight ring and one into the seven ring.  The rounds that didn't go into the black were high which indicated I was relaxing a bit before the gun went off, totally my fault.

I ended up scoring 280 out of 300 possible which is excellent for a compact "close up" gun.  My co-workers who were also shooting bullseye were surprised how good the gun shot.  All rounds were perfectly centered.  The CW40's front sight post is similar to the Glock slide so it's perfectly centered compared to the dovetailed slide of the P40.  The guys at Kahr lined the rear sight perfectly, kudos to them.

Other than the initial failure for the slide to pick up the first round and go into battery, the gun worked perfectly.  I will put some more rounds through the gun before carrying it off duty on a regular basis.  I would have snapped a picture with my cell phone camera but the damn thing went to hell on me.  Damn Crapberry!

I've just gotten a CW40, used but slightly. I fired about 100 rounds of my handloads with 155 gr Hornady bullets and HS-7 powder and had some issues. With heavier Remington Golden Saber I had few FTF because the slide got locked back after firing. I had no problems with my handloads. I examined the gun at home and found out that the spring mounted under the slight stop on the left side of the frame was bent inward and up. I figured that previous owner pushed the slide stop forcefully and bent the spring. It should slide upwards on the incline of the stop and snap into the groove there. So I would warn the owners when putting the gun together work the slide stop gently wiggling it up and down pushing it in, otherwise the spring may be bent and not to push the stop downward locking the gun. Gun was very accurate. Will try it again soon.
